Awaited

I laid myself in the sands between the breasts of Gaia,

the touch of Poseidon to take the tender, tingling coldness from my feet.

Celeste had already scorched the world,
from the brightest to the faded.

Yet my feet were cold,
and I was lost in thought,

Trying to find Pandora’s box
among seashells collected from the dunes of the heart.

Seeking warmth,
I sank my bitterness into her navel
as he caressed her gently.

In the distance, I sensed a presence
holding the warmth of the world.

A familiar scent of burnt burden upon his shoulders
shared the air we breathed.

The scent grew as he approached,
easing my chaos with every step.

I saw my world in his brown eyes,
they wore the glance of everything I searched for.

Strength unmatched-
bruises, stories of the battles he had fought.

All I could feel
was the warmth of his heart.

He carried me, light as the wind,
bearing my weight.

With each step, I breathed,
sank into his arms,
and walked toward endless horizons.
